Brake Service Intervals

Brake maintenance is the best way to avoid problems before they happen. Are you experiencing a vibration when braking? Are your hearing a high pitch squeal when applying the brakes? These are all signs your brakes are probably in need of attention. Brake safety is extremely important for your safety and the safety of other drivers! Here's some standard service interval descriptions for brake components on your vehicle:

Brake pads: We recommend inspecting your brake pads every 10,000 to 15,000 miles. Your brake pads are made with a friction material which will wear out over time. Once the material has all worn away, the metal backing of the brake pad will start to dig into the rotors; say bye-bye to your brake rotors!

Brake Rotors: Your brake rotors should generally be replaced every 50,000 to 70,000 miles. Due to wear and tear, the rotor faces distort over time. Excessive heating and cooling of the brakes makes rotors wear out faster. Hard stops or 'stop and go' traffic cause a lot of heat to be generated.

Brake Calipers: If you keep up with your brake maintenance, brake calipers can last the life of the vehicle. But if you fall behind on brakes replacement, your brake calipers might take a hit too!

Brake Fluid: Your brake fluid should be flushed out once a year. When moisture condenses in the hydraulic system, it gets absorbed by the brake fluid. Over time, brake fluid loses its lubricating properties and the retained moisture can cause failure of other brake components.

Master Cylinder/Brake Booster: Your master cylinder and brake booster can last the life of the vehicle if brake maintenance is upheld. These components commonly fail due to dirty brake fluid or leaking master cylinders.
