WHAT IS A RADIATOR?
Radiators help keep your engine cool. Antifreeze circulates through the radiator. The antifreeze coming out of your engine first flows through the radiator from top to bottom. Air circulation from driving or from the cooling fan helps cool the antifreeze. The air passes through the radiator's fins.
CAN I WITH A RADIATOR?
We highly recommend not driving your vehicle with a bad radiator. If you're radiator is damaged or leaking, it will not provide adequate cooling your engine needs in order to perform optimally. This will lead to overheating and may cause severe engine damage.
WHAT ARE SYMPTOMS OF A BAD RADIATOR?
When your radiator needs to be replaced you may experience one or more of the following:
Cracks- Cracks are one of the most common symptoms of a bad radiator. If the radiator is cracked, the antifreeze will leak out. A radiator can also crack internally. This will usually result with antifreeze mixing with transmission fluid (internal transmission coolers only).
Bent - If your radiator is bent, it will eventually develop a crack due to the stress of the material.
Clogged - Sometimes radiators may become clogged and not allow antifreeze to flow freely. Clogged radiators are most typically caused by using the wrong type of coolant or neglecting to perform scheduled coolant flushes.
